Self Esteem Issues

Do you constantly minimize yourself, your worth or your capabilities?  Is your mindset one of someone who is undeserving? Do you have issues with who you are as a person?  Are you unable to accept compliments from others?  If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you may have low self-esteem.  A low self-esteem can lead to feelings of sadness, depression, heightened anxiety, shame, anger, and isolation.  A low self-esteem can negatively affect many aspects of your life.  It can cause an individual to get into a relationship where he/she is abused. Low self-esteem can lead individuals to working at a job for a lesser wage.  It can also lead to substance abuse to self-remedy the feelings associated with lowered self-esteem.  Low self-esteem can also have a negative impact on one’s social life. Someone with low self-esteem may feel that others are not capable of loving them or wanting to spend time with them.  This causes the person with low self-esteem to isolate themselves.  Through therapy, a good support system, and recognizing one’s own worth, self-esteem issues can be treated and the individual can gain a sense of self-worth, pride, and hope.
